There was a weird kind of silence waking up this morning.
As someone that lives by a busy road, I immediately noticed the silence. The silence that comes from no car on the road.
The silence made the day feel a lot calmer, more cozy. Like a warm beverage on a cold day.
As I walked outside to throw the trash, I could hear the birds chirping, the sound the trees make when breeze caresses it's leaves, the low hum of multiple air conditioners.
It just felt slow. Like life was taking its time. Like Lagos stopped to breathe for once.
For those not in Lagos, today is our Local Government Elections and Like all major elections the state was ordered to halt all vehicular movement from the hours of 3am to 3pm to ensure safe elections.
I'm already dreading 3pm. When Lagos ends it's break and begins to speed run again like a machine with no off switch.
But until then, I will sit outside and appreciate life, appreciate nature and wonder if this is how good they have it in slower cities while listening to a Playlist of slow afro songs (Omah lay, Serotonin, Victony and tems)
As I post this, the cars have resumed. The serenity is broken. Lagos has woken from its brief slumber.
Lagos is a handful
Omo I feel for you oo. Living close to a Lagos road? Damn.
