Team Ginny❌Team Georgia❌Team everyone needs therapy✔️
a girl-begging-for-sleep's yap
Its 4:33am, for some reason, I can't sleep. Maybe its cause I've been sleeping all day, maybe cause I might have insomnia but it doesn't matter.
I just finished another episode of Ginny and Georgia (my third tonight, I mean if I can't sleep might as well do something instead of staring at the ceiling)
Ginny and Georgia Season three is great, probably their most critically acclaimed season yet. Its so complex and the complexities for once are bubbling to the surface instead of subtly brimming underneath it like they usually are in other seasons.
I have been an avid watcher of Ginny and Georgia, from the moment it came out about four years ago. I have been both team Ginny and team Georgia, team wtfdym Hunter, team Marcus, team Max-is-on-a-power-trip. And when season two came up I binged it, neglecting school
I have never understood why people hated Ginny. She is the perfect nuanced character and she made so much sense to me as an individual.
Georgia is morally grey. That’s fine. She has legitimate reasons for what she does. Most times doesn't think them through but they all come from a place of good intentions for herself and the people she cares about. That’s exactly what put her into her current predicament.
But what people don't seem to get is that not everyone has to be onboard with a morally grey person.
Ginny is conflicted. Think about it from her point of view.
Her mum moves her and her brother around their whole life, most especially after a relationship ends.
They never build roots.
Her mother never confronts problems. Never knows where the next meal is coming from, just smiles and acts like everything is fine all the time when its not.
Then you find out your mum killed her ex husband. Has guns. Was in a gang and has basically lied to you your entire childhood.
You're still reeling from that, then comes a murder trial. That she actually committed the crime. And you have to defend her from everyone while still coming to terms with the fact that you might not even know your own mother at all.
Yeah honestly its a lot confusing.
And Ginny is trying so hard to be accepting of that.
In this episode I just finished Paul just got told his wife might be a murderer. Paul that has had doubts. Paul that sees everything in black and white.
The thing with Paul is that he wants utmost trust, but with his position of power, Georgia can't give that to him
In every episode we're watching a family navigate one of the most dreadful things to occur. Alleged murder. And seeing how it affects everyone.
How Austin feels guilty and can't sleep in his own bed but loves his mother so much he's literally living by ‘See no evil, say no evil’. And he's just nine. I honestly wonder how much more trauma we would unpack if that boy was the main character, because I would argue that at the moment he is a lot more messed up than Ginny. Ginny is just very expressive with how she feels.
Lynette is literally the definition of right idea wrong execution. Georgia has always wanted one thing. To be a good mom and to take care of her family and for Lynette wanting to take over, Georgia feels threatened. Georgia didn't feel love at home so she wants to feel it from her kids and is of the opinion that if the kids are taken, she won't feel loved.
(I might be reaching though. Its midnight and I need sleep but apparently sleep doesn't need me)
Anyway this season demonstrates emotions so well.
From Maxine’s jealousy and fierce protectiveness to Marcus depression, his family—especially his mum—'s helplessness.
Ginny and Marcus navigating friendship while dealing with the fact that they are still in love with each other but need to heal properly before they’re together. The yearning is off the charts.
Abby with her body image issues still trying to find kinship even with the two people she hates the most, Press and Samantha—who she knows has body image issues too. Norah's uptightness and all.
I'm just on episode three but damn, they ate.
I would also like to add that whoever is the costume designer is KILLING IT with Ginny’s fits this season. Banger after banger. No misses. Then Maxine’s look at that dance? ATE THE HOUSE DOWN.
Now if you'll excuse me, I want to try and force myself to sleep. Goodnight.
This was written in the middle of the night on my note app and I was just able to latch away from work, correct grammatical errors and hit post. But for something I typed in the middle of the night, I’m so eloquent.
Purrrrr💅💅💅

I really hated how Maxine was treated this season.
I honestly feel for Austin the most. I hated the fact that he had to go through so much at a very young age.
