Before we get into it, food for thought (like genuinely reply me)
You know that 12 Days of Christmas song? How many gifts did she receive?
The internet is torn between two answers which are based on the grammatical analysis of the song. For example, on the fifth day, did she receive five golden rings alone or did she receive five golden rings, four calling birds, three French hens, two turtle doves and a partridge in a pear tree.
Cause then, she either received five gifts (the rings) or fifteen gifts (the rings and everything else) on the fifth day, based on your understanding of the song.
And at the end of the twelve days, she either has:
12 + 11 + 10 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 78 gifts
OR
(12 + (11 x 2) + (10 x 3) + (9 x 4) + (8 x 5) + (7 x 6)) x 2 = 364 gifts
Now as a realistic person, I’ll like to believe that the first is correct.
But as a material girl who thinks this true love is a rich man, I’ll love to believe the second, because ‘as you should!’. Also, the song says, “AND a partridge in a pear tree”. The ‘AND’ is important.
